Mr. Dwyer was born in New York in 1963. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in 1985 and his J.D. from Western New England College School of Law, located in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1991. He has focused his career in civil litigation, starting with insurance defense work in Connecticut, where he represented several insurance companies in private practice and was "in-house" counsel for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. His experience representing insurance companies in personal injury cases has afforded him an insider's view of how insurance companies adjust and handle claims and lawsuits. Since moving to Tucson in 1997, Mr. Dwyer has been representing plaintiffs. He has also practiced in the area of commercial litigation, with a focus on construction defect cases, where he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants. This experience launched his involvement in several cases against insurance companies for breach of contract and bad faith. Mr. Dwyer has tried nearly 45 jury trials in Connecticut and Arizona, participated in numerous arbitrations and has served as an arbitrator in several cases. He has presented seminars and forum discussions on the civil litigation process, tort reform, arbitrations, civil discovery (including electronic discovery), expert witnesses and various other topics concerning civil litigation. He is a member of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association, the Arizona Bar Association, Pima County Bar Association (PCBA), the Connecticut State Bar, and the federal bar in the districts of Arizona and Connecticut. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Pima County Bar Association, and is Chairperson of the Pima County Bar Association's Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee. He handles civil cases in both state and federal courts.
